1999 Bordeaux

1999 Bordeaux - Latest comments on this vintage...

Wine Spectator- "Aromatic, delicate and fruity. Stick to top estates, rest mediocre"

Wine Advocate - " An improving vintage..."

"Strength of the vintage remains the wines of Margaux, with many estates producing some of their finest efforts in decades..."

1999 Bordeaux wines are well-balanced and supple. Similar to 1998 Bordeaux, 1999 wines have sweetened tannins with a lot of ripe fruit. Also, most items have their release price 5 to 10% lower than that of 1998 though first growths and some well-known estates still have slight increase in prices.

Given the slight drop in prices, one would not be difficult to find some outstanding items at very good price especially from the left bank regions like Margaux, Pauillac and St Julien etc. Also, bearing in mind the shooting price of vintage 2000, smart buyers should dig into the treasures of 1998 and 1999 to find value-priced items for drinking.
